Together with my colleagues Aleksi Aaltonen (Stevens Institute of Technology), Sirkka Jarvenpaa (UT Austin), and Christoph Rosenkranz (Universität Köln), weare pleased to invite scholars - professors, postdocs, PhD students in information systems - to a joint workshop focused on the evolving role of data in our field, titled "Towards x Futures with Data, Data Objects, and Data Practices".
This engaging session will be held at the University of Duisburg-Essenon Tuesday, May 13 2025 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by an optional joint lunch.
The workshop will commence with a keynote by Aleksi Aaltonen (Stevens Institute of Technology), exploring the significance of data and data practices within Information Systems. Aleksi will draw from his vast research experience and from is work as an editor. Moreover, he will draw draw upon the valuable resources of the Data Studies Bibliography.
Following this, we invite you to actively participate by delivering concise 5-minute pitches on your current research projects related to data. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your ongoing work, receive feedback, and foster potential collaborations on data in IS.
Depending on the number of participants, we will organize the pitching session either as a collective discussion or through smaller roundtable formats. We are delighted to welcome IS professors and their research groups/PhD students to this enriching exchange.
Collectively, we can explore the future directions of "data" in Information Systems.
We believe your insights and contributions will be invaluable to this workshop, and we warmly encourage you to join us for this stimulating event.
To indicate your interest in attending and potentially giving a 5-minute pitch, please fill out this form until April 30th, 2025.
