With his position statement, Ulrich Frank opens the "Invitation to Debate" of this year's CAiSE'25 (37th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering).

The debate is dedicated to the question “Time for a new scientific culture?”. In his statement , Ulrich Frank refers to a number of worrying developments that he considers to be a threat to the idea of science. Against the background of a brief analysis of current problems, he comes to the conclusion that reforms can only succeed with the help of a strong academic culture.
