This year's CAiSE'25 (37th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering) introduces a new format with "Invitation to Debate" , which aims to stimulate discourse on topics that are of vital interest for the research community. The debate will be opened by a statement from Ulrich Frank.

In his statement (https://big.tuwien.ac.at/assets/time-for-a-new-culture-of-science.pdf), Ulrich Frank refers to a number of worrying developments that he considers to be a threat to the idea of science. Against the background of a brief analysis of current problems, he comes to the conclusion that reforms can only succeed with the help of a strong academic culture.
